This is the fourth edition of Cloud Usage Report by Nutanix, where each year we take a rear view mirror look at how the Cloud usage trends are changing. This report is our attempt to analyze cloud adoption not in the form of opinions or surveys but to look at real consumption data and trends to help make sense of fast-evolving cloud trends.
The year 2020 brought unprecedented challenges to organizations across industries. While most of the economy took a downturn, Cloud adoption actually rose due to the inherent advantages offered by a Public Cloud that enabled remote work more easily. As the world tries to get back to ‘normal’, we see continued cloud usage growth through the past year, and an interesting impact on cloud spend across verticals due to COVID-19.
We hope that this report provides you with the data across industry, segments and cloud services that will help you better plan your personal cloud journey.
Some of the key insights uncovered:
- Remote workforce drives cloud adoption, with the ability to deliver virtual infrastructure-as-a-service allowing IT to meet their objectives.
- Technology, Media and Telecom, Financial Services and the Public Sector were amongst the biggest cloud adopters.
- Real-time monitoring and right-sizing of cloud resources can lead to significant cost savings and optimal cloud consumption.
- Enterprises need the flexibility of choice between datacenters and multiple public clouds for different workload needs. Hybrid Multicloud is the way forward to get the best of both worlds.
